We care most about you and that you feel comfortable at the Vienna Sugar Blues Festival. We want you to also extend this care to others. Any harassment such as physical mistreatment or verbal insults are not tolerated at our event. In case anything happens to you or you witness anything that concerns you, please get in contact with your care team or the organizing team. 

The organisers will address anyone who will show a behavior in contravention with this code and is entirely entitled to take any appropriate action including the removal of an attendee, temporarily or definitely.

Our code of conduct applies to all members of the community (organisers, teachers, DJs, Band members, contractors, volunteers and dancers). By attending the Vienna Sugar Blues Festival 2018, you have read, understood and will respect the code of conduct:
Respect your fellow dancers
Please treat each other with genuine respect. Be aware that what might be in your comfort zone, might not be equally true for others.
Dance roles do not equal gender roles
Please keep in mind that in a social dance setting with leading, following and switching, we do not assume the other person’s dance role. We invite you to clearly express which role you want to dance when you ask someone for a dance.
Mind your own and other people’s bodies
Please be careful when dancing and make that you and your partner both have a safe and pleasant dance experience.
1. Be mindful of other dancers around you and keep your dancing social-floor friendly
2. Ask for consent before you lead moves such as dips or dance in close embrace
3. Apologise for accidental swiping/touching of sensitive body parts
4. Tell your partner in case you got an injury or something hurts
5. Stay hydrated, and make sure to eat
It’s ok to say no
It is okay to say no to a dance when asked. Please be respectful and accept a “No” when asking for a dance and equally be kind when you decline a dance.
When dancing with people, please take care of good personal hygiene to make dancing more comfortable for everyone involved. You know your body, bring an extra change of clothes, towels, or deodorants if you need it.

Vienna Sugar Blues Festival is a not-for-profit event run by “Vienna Sugar Blues Kulturverein zur Förderung von Blues-Tanz, -Musik und –Geschichte” (= cultural association that fosters Blues dance, music and history) and we operate in accordance with current data protection legislation. Registration
When you register for the festival, we will obtain information such as your name, email address, phone number, country you are from, dance level, dance partner’s name etc. directly from you. We will send you emails related to the festival you registered for such as booking and payment confirmations, general information concerning classes, cancellations and changes to the programme or venues and feedback surveys.
Newsletter
We use Mailchimp as our marketing platform. By subscribing to our mailing list you acknowledge that your information will be transferred to Mailchimp for processing. Learn more about Mailchimp’s privacy practices here.

All workshops and social events are held in public spaces. Photographs and videos may be taken at these occasions and Vienna Sugar Blues Festival may publish such photographs or videos without additional express consent of the participants. Vienna Sugar Blues will not use such photographs or videos for purposes other than documenting or promoting the activities of the organisation. Should you have any questions or concerns regarding your image being taken at one of our events, please contact us in advance.
How we use your personal information
Your personal data will only be used for earmarked purposes and services and statistical analyses. We will not use your data for any exceeding commercial or non-commercial purposes, except you agree to such usage. By sending us your personal data you agree to the earmarked processing, use and storage of your individual-related information, which can be handed to companies commissioned by Vienna Sugar Blues Kulturverein zur Förderung von Blues-Tanz, -Musik und –Geschichte to handle your requests (e.g. for the newsletter).
